so here you have it. photographic evidence of my inconvenience. it's not a fab picture, as it was taken left handed, with a cell phone. i was finally able to wash it today though, so i thought i'd share, now that it is cakey-blood free.
it doesn't look all that horrid, i will freely admit. the trouble lies in the fact that it is bone deep, and i still have little feeling in and no use of my right thumb.
prayers would be greatly appreciated. i'm not a big fan of surgery, so i am hopeful for all nerve activity to be restored.
i hope you all had the happiest of thanksgivings.
arrivederci, rebecca marie

9 flattering compliments:
It does TOO look horrid. You had 5 (FIVE) stitches. I know you are uber brave and all, but Sis... it's awful. My poor poor seester.
It does look awful. I do have some good news though - I cut off the tip of my thumb about five months ago and had absolutely NO feeling in the piece after it re-attatched. But, now I'm feeling more and more. It took a long time, but it really is coming back. I am assured by my minister that the most common re-growth of nerves occurs in hands.
and i will pray.
Also, everytime I navigate to your page and the William Hung video begins, the dogs I'm housesitting bark.
oh, that is such great news, amanda! sincerly great.
also, thank you for telling me about your nerves coming back. that was good to hear, too.
Amanda's right.
you should be fine--some years back during a slight rain my foot slipped off my tractor brake while I was measuring the distance between myself and a tree with my arm to see if the wheels would pass by. (yea, I know really stupid) I found that a tree is really stronger than human bones the hard way-- finding forearm and upperarm lodged together with my bones coming through my skin here and there. A visiting Swedish socialist doctor used an internal splinting technique not used in the US and saved my arm and all the nerves! I was picking corn three weeks later with no problems or numbness. Now his technique is widely used world wide and is the only thing I can think of that I have to be Thankful for from the commie socialists. But I trying. I went to feed homeless people but that didn't work out. I finished my novel, and I'm thankful for that. AND most of all I am thankful that you are safe and your hand will be fine again--but take it easy for awhile and recover! Happy Thanksgiving!
I'm praying for you, Becky!!! Poor gal! The nerves can grow back. My ex-housemate chopped off part of her finger, and by the time the doctor sewed it back, it was black (dead). But with prayer, the blood vessels reattached and grew, and the nerves healed!! Now, it is a piano-playing finger again.
yucky.
Hey, If you cut your other thumb would it be bried of Frankenthumb?
